The goal of the proclamation is to state three things:
Acknowledge suicide is an issue.
Raise the visibility of available suicide prevention resources.
Encourage others to be available to those around them by learning how to discuss suicide without increasing the risk of harm.
This year, Hope For The Day® is again taking to the streets in encouraging municipal governments to adopt the proclamation, raise the visibility of resources in their community, and support those silently struggling by reiterating the fact that IT’S OK NOT TO BE OK®. In addition, H.F.T.D educators are being mobilized and attending these city council meetings where possible, virtually if necessary. By joining with local mental health partners across the country, like NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), we stand with cities across the country by showing up to accept these documents to encourage further partnerships between cities and mental health resource providers.
