Let’s Dance!
In preparation for our upcoming fundraising event this weekend, it is essential to fully understand all of the health benefits you will be receiving for coming out and dancing against suicide this Sunday night. I bet you thought you were just coming to help a great cause, dance, have a couple drinks and possibly meet your future husband or wife. Wrong! Although, these should be reasons enough to come out.
The night starts with getting all dressed up, or dressed down, whichever you prefer and contemplating all the possible outcomes of the night. Daydreaming is proven to enhance one’s mood and is a requirement to starting the night off right. You then arrive at the door of Cobra Lounge, which within itself is thrilling. You hand over your $10.00 to support Hope For The Day and get a fuzzy feeling in your stomach knowing you are contributing to a cause which will help save the lives of teenagers.
Through your generous donations, you are directly helping us to step foot into schools throughout the Chicagoland area to educate teens on the power that music and the arts has as a deterrent to suicide. That’s all on you, so Congratulations! After patting yourself on the back for your good deed you then enter to feel the thumping of the music under your feet. You suddenly feel all of your senses heightened as you can’t help but deny the visual and aural stimulation all around you. You just want to dance! Before busting out your Chris Brown dance moves, a little liquid courage may be necessary (or not, you may be THAT good). If you do choose to buy a drink, there you go again, supporting Hope For The Day. A portion of the drink sales at Cobra Lounge that night goes directly to the Organization!
Now, it’s time. Shimmy, shake, slide, skip, just get to that dance floor because it’s your time to shine. With every step, pelvic thrust or hand raise you are releasing endorphins in your brain and increasing your dopamine level. In case you didn’t know, endorphins and dopamine are the chemicals that cause happiness and boost your mood. It’s that natural high sensation you get after working out or jumping out of an airplane, to each their own. Tonight, let’s stick to the dancing.
Dance Against Suicide is a win win situation for all. While you are grooving with a goofy smile on your face we are planning how we can save lives through your generosity. We appreciate your support and can’t wait to boogey down with you Sunday night at Cobra Lounge.
See you all there, and remember, HELP KEEP THE BEAT!
